Members of the Society hope the revealing shots won't affect their handicap,
as they are to cover their modesty with various golfing implements ranging from
a long iron to a golf buggy.
The golfers hope the seasonal snaps taken at Ansty Golf Club, on a bright
but very cold day in November, will raise £3,000 for research into testicular
cancer.
Golf Society President Rob Palmer said: "When we formed the society, we
knew that we wanted it to be more than just a group of guys getting together,
playing some golf and popping down the pub.We
chose to raise money for testicular cancer as it's still something of a taboo
for a lot of men. We thought a bit of humour would help us to get a serious
message across, as well as raising money for a great cause."
The club formed back in April when a group of regulars at the pub realised that
they all shared a common passion. They decided to approach the licensees
at The Wharf, who were keen to provide their support, jumping at the chance
to offer the pub as official club headquarters.
The three Union Pub Company publicans, Phil, Sam & Sue, were first
in line to pay £200 to sponsor a page in the calendar, proceeds from which
will be donated to Cancer Research UK, specifically for research into testicular
cancer.
Mr Palmer added: "Phil,
Sam and Sue have been great too, organising collections and fundraisers
at the pub to support us. And we’ve had official approval from Cancer
Research UK, so its really all systems go now."
The society successfully secured all sponsorship for the calendar, with
Leamington Spa photographer Peter Rowe taking the shots for free and securing
highly discounted printing with Derby-based trade printers, Adpads.
